Frequently asked questions

Is this the official Kyrgyztest?

No. It is a practice test built on our A1 course phrases: the task format follows the “Lexis and grammar” subtest, but Kyrgyztest does not publish real exam papers. Registration and the exam itself are run by kyrgyztest.gov.kg.

How many tasks does the real A1 exam have?

156 tasks in 2 hours 50 minutes: lexis and grammar — 90 tasks in 70 minutes, listening — 30 in 25, reading — 30 in 25, writing — 3 in 25, speaking — 3 in 25. The structure is the same at every level; the level is set by the material.

What does the A1 Writing subtest ask?

The official task is written answers to 10 questions about yourself, your family, work, time and city; numbers must be written in words. Kyrgyztest publishes the full question list on its site, and the mock exam in the A1 course asks them verbatim. The full list with translations and sample answers is in Kyrgyztest A1 Writing questions and answers.

Who needs level A1?

A1 is the first Kyrgyztest level. Since August 2025 the law requires Kyrgyz for a residence permit, and the State Language Commission names A1 (details in our residence permit article on learn.kg).

What if I fail?

Kyrgyztest allows retaking individual subtests or the whole test. The waiting time depends on the score: 50–59 points — after 3 working days, 40–49 — after 10 working days, below 40 — after 30 days.

How do I prepare for A1 here?

The A1 course has 12 modules with native audio and an exam week at the end: a format trainer for each subtest and a full mock exam with the official Writing questions and Speaking tasks.
