Numbers in Kyrgyz from 1 to 10

How to pronounce it

Note үч and төрт: they contain the rounded vowels ү and ө — lips pushed forward. Vowel length matters too: жүз (“hundred”) has a single vowel. Kyrgyz counting is fully regular — learn ten words and you can say any number.

Frequently asked questions

How do you say eleven and twenty in Kyrgyz?

Он бир is eleven (literally “ten one”), жыйырма is twenty. It continues the same way: жыйырма бир is twenty-one.

What about a hundred and a thousand?

Жүз is a hundred, миң is a thousand. Nineteen hundred is миң тогуз жүз.

Do Kyrgyz numbers change form?

The numeral itself does not, but the noun after it stays singular: эки китеп means “two books” (literally “two book”).
