The all-purpose “goodbye” in Kyrgyz is көрүшкөнчө, literally “until we meet”. But Kyrgyz splits farewells by role: the person leaving wishes those staying жакшы калыңыз — “stay well”, and those staying answer жакшы барыңыз — “go well”.
The verb pair is visible in the words themselves: калыңыз from кал- “to stay”, барыңыз from бар- “to go”. Көрүшкөнчө packs four rounded front vowels in a row (ө, ү, ө, ө) — good practice for lip rounding.
Жакшы калыңыз! — “stay well”. Those staying will answer жакшы барыңыз! — “go well”.
Yes — көрүшкөнчө, “until we meet”, fits both formal and friendly situations.
Көрүшкөнчө or жакшы калыңыз both work; you can add рахмат (“thank you”) before them.
